Upon
entering the foyer of Residenza Mansi, it is clear that this is no
ordinary apartment. The sheer size of this apartment is one of the most
striking things – achieved by combining two normal apartments.

Situated on the first floor above ground level, one enters
the apartment via a foyer with an incredible Venetian cut glass mirror.
To the left and right are two sitting rooms. On the left, there is a
warm and welcoming sitting room with a large table with comfortable,
oversized leather chairs. There is a small terrace accessed via two
sets of French windows. These flank a wall housing a matching Venetian
mirror to the one in the entrance hall. This sitting room has the
original, centuries-old, timber-beamed ceiling.
Walk through
the sitting room and you are in a state of the art kitchen where no
expense has been spared. It is large, luxurious and functional. All of
the appliances are by SMEG, with a double-sized electric oven, a gas
hob and a dishwasher. There is a very large American side-by-side
fridge/freezer with a water and ice dispenser. The big dining table
seats eight for formal dining, contracting to a smaller table for four
or six – excellent for those who don’t wish to cramp their day-to-day
lifestyle, but still entertain on a large scale.

Continue through the kitchen to the main sleeping
quarters, or pass into the kitchen and turn right to the second,
smaller kitchen. This is once again, a fully functional kitchen in its
own right. Fully fitted with SMEG appliances, it comprises an electric
oven, a microwave oven, a gas hob and a dishwasher. This second kitchen
leads you to a second sitting room (also accessible from the entrance
foyer) which has a more casual eating area consisting of bench seating
in an L shape around a typical Tuscan table, with timber and rattan
chairs making up the rest of the furniture. This is also the TV room,
and there is a large flat screen TV with Sky satellite TV, video and
DVD. All of this is viewed from a luxurious and comfortable leather
lounge suite, including a leather ottoman to rest weary legs after
hours of sightseeing.
The master bedroom is an enormous
suite with a huge, king-sized four poster bed. There is luxurious,
custom-built furniture surrounding the room, housing extensive
wardrobes, a concealed TV and spacious bedside drawers. The beautiful,
old-world style of the bedroom includes a spectacular timber-beamed
ceiling.

There
is a double en-suite bathroom leading off the main bedroom to complete
the master suite. It has a powder room and a small bathroom, connected
by a shower room. This shower room is something to note as it has 27
jets of water that can drench, soak, shower spray, steam and hydro
massage the bather at the turn of few taps. This entire en-suite
complex has been fitted out in local granite of olive green hue and has
cream marble vanity tops. Halogen lighting and a combination of chrome
and stainless steel completes the blend of traditional and high tech.
There
are three more bedrooms, all of which are decorated with new
custom-made furniture in a distressed look featuring clusters and
posies of local flowers. The second bedroom has a queen-sized double
bed, the third bedroom features twin singles, which can be combined to
form a queen-size double. The fourth bedroom has a single bed which can
be converted to a queen-sized double.

The
fourth bedroom also has access to a large terrace. This is a
sun-drenched space for most of the day. There are relaxing, teak sun
loungers for two, or an extendable teak dining table with seating for
eight. This is a great spot for dining on a sunny day.
The
full apartment is extremely spacious for eight guests. It can also be
configured for six by excluding the master bedroom/bathroom, television
lounge and kitchen number two.

The
features of the flat includes the following: individually controlled
air conditioning; purified and pressurised water system; TV, satellite
TV, DVD, VCR, stereo, CD player, high-speed internet connection; full
gourmet kitchen with microwave, dishwasher, American refrigerator,
cooking utensils, washer, dryer, iron and board. There is a weekly maid
and linen service and weekly linen change.
